Since the beginning of the second quarter to the present, Lucara Diamond has produced 13 diamonds weighing more than 100 carats, two of which weigh more than 200 carats.
The company's message, received by Rough & Polished via e-mail, says that 8 out of 13 extracted diamonds have a jewelry quality.
The five largest diamonds produced have a weight of 259, 239, 133 carats and two stones of 153 carats.
Since the beginning of the second quarter, 239 diamonds weighing more than 10.8 carats have been received at the Karowe mine. The weight of 27 of these diamonds is in the range of 50 to 100 carats.
"Stable extraction of huge and high-quality white diamonds provides a sharp increase in the cost of Lucara and its shareholders and supports the status of the Karov project as a rare source of exceptional diamonds," said William Lamb, CEO of the company. "The extraction of precious stones of such characteristics may prompt us to hold the third tender of exceptional diamonds already in the fourth quarter of 2014".
