Since its foundation in 1999, the IGI India laboratory has played a leading role in establishing the structure and setting standards for the certification and science of gemology (including jewelry design courses) in India, both among retailers and consumers.
There were times when independent reports on the classification of diamonds were not popular in the Indian market. Now IGI India services are used by leading diamond traders, jewelers, jewelry salons and brands from all over the country, and the laboratory has made a huge contribution to the development of the diamond and jewelry industry in India.
IGI India has 10 gemstone laboratories located in Mumbai, Surat, Kolkata, Trissur, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and New Delhi.
"15 years ago, most local producers and traders could not believe that there is a demand for certification of precious stones. The Indian diamond industry was focused on production, and all business decisions were made in Antwerp, Tel Aviv or New York, "Roland LoriƩ, the general director of the international IGI network, said. "Having established a laboratory in India and trained thousands of people, IGI has become a key player who has made a significant contribution to the development of India as a leading shopping center."
