NewsDay newspaper quoted Lovemore Kurotwi, the chairman of the center, as saying that the center received a huge number of responses.
"10 out of 60 companies that applied for infrastructure are international," said Kurotvi. "Next week we will compile a list and evaluate various companies to determine which applications to satisfy in the first place."
It was assumed that the diamond center will accommodate more than 500 factories producing diamonds.
The center will house a comprehensive service center, an auction hall, premises for regulatory offices and other participants serving the diamond industry, including banks, courier companies and insurance companies.
Initially, the authorities in Harare were asked to become the operator of the center, but they did not show interest in it. Kurotvi said that in this case the project will develop as a specialized center for the diamond industry, not the government.
