Federation of Belgian Diamond Bourses (Federation of Belgian Diamond Bourses) in collaboration with the AWDC (Antwerp World Diamond Centre, AWDC) on September 29 held a two-hour information session for all its members, according to AWDC.
The session participants were informed that starting from January 1, 2017 four Antwerp diamond bourses were among the first to actively apply the principles introduced by the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (World Federation of Diamond Bourses, WFDB ) to combat undeclared synthetic stones.
WFDB guidelines include a commitment to add a clear and standard descriptions of goods in invoices and official documents, as well as written declarations and disciplinary action against traders who do not meet these requirements.
In support of this measure AWDC CEO Ari Epstein (Ari Epstein) announced that, in collaboration with the Federation will be provided free use of the device developed by HRD Antwerp for sorting M-Screen chalk for the members of the Antwerp diamond bourses. M-Screen chalk is an automated sorting device that can be used to verify diamond-cut size of 1 to 20 Point for possible detection of laboratory grown stones, rocks with altered using HPHT techniques and simulations color diamonds. The device reportedly can check 7200-10 800 diamonds per hour.
Addressing the participants of the session, Epstein noted that "in recent decades, Antwerp has been a pioneer in enhancing transparency, confidence-building and promoting innovation in the global diamond industry. Making the M-screen accessible to the diamond community in Antwerp, we are taking another major step forward in its commitment to sustainable development of the diamond industry. "
The session was also announced the release of an updated version of the M-Screen. As expected, M-Screen + will be able to verify the size of the diamonds to 0.5 point, and the sorting rate is up to 15,000 diamonds per hour.

Participants at the first Summit of the jewelry industry (Jewelry Industry Summit), which was held from 11 to 13 March in New York, made a commitment to carry out projects on harmonization of standards and educational initiatives in the jewelry industry.
