The Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia and the World Association of Armenian Jewelers (AJA) signed a memorandum on cooperation in the training of professional jewelers in Armenia last Friday, ARKA news agency reported.
The document was signed by the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Armen Ashotyan and the chairman of the World Association of Armenian Jewelers Gagik Gevorgyan.
"The goal of the new cooperation project is to provide the sphere of jewelry business of Armenia with young professional staff. The signed memorandum creates not only a legal basis for this, but also identifies the main areas of cooperation, "Ashotyan said.
The Minister noted that the document offers comprehensive solutions in the field of training highly qualified personnel and providing young specialists with work.
He also noted that the provisions of the document imply cooperation with relevant educational institutions, according to the requirements of the labor market.
In his turn, the chairman of AJA noted that the ultimate goal of cooperation with the ministry is the creation of a free economic zone in Armenia in the sphere of jewelry business.
"We want Armenia to become one of the world's best centers of jewelry business, which is quite achievable if we create a free economic zone and attract investors, and for this we need high-level employees. Unfortunately, that personnel potential, which we have today, does not meet international standards, "Gevorgyan said.
