The Council for Responsible Jewelry practice (Responsible Jewellery Council, RJC) held a seminar last week in Basel, Switzerland, dedicated to the proposed changes in the RJC standards with a focus on the supply chain.
The event, held under the chairmanship of Anne-Mari Fleri (Anne-Marie Fleury), director of the RJC Standards and assessment of impacts, and Peter Dawkins (Peter Dawkins), RJC Coordinator for insurance activities and standards, gathered more than 20 participants who had a dynamic and engaged discussion and shared their valuable technical knowledge and internal industry expertise, according to the RJC.
Basel Exhibition prestigious watch and jewelery Baselworld 2017 was launched on Thursday, March 23 with the sectoral debate, organized by the RJC. Council members, industry experts and other interested parties gathered at the Basel Congress Center to get the latest information from the RJC and data on the EU Regulation on conflict minerals which presented an invited speaker Rut Krouell (Ruth Crowell), CEO of the LBMA.
The experts exchanged views on the most successful examples of responsible mining of precious stones and shared with the audience the ideas of ensuring supply chain integrity and ethical business practices mining.
