Boytumelo has extensive operational experience, stakeholder engagement and corporate strategy at a high level in many different branches of the mining industry, including diamonds, soda ash and salt, nickel, iron ore, copper and copper byproducts. Most recently, he was Director General for Engineering and Projects in Kennecott Utah Copper in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
Managing Director of Operations Rio Tinto in the segment of copper and Almazov Naydzhel Steward (Nigel Steward) said: "Patrick brings his extensive experience in an important moment of the mine development Diavik (Diavik), because we are working to ensure uninterrupted production in A21 area along with our existing underground works in diamond mining. "
Boytumelo said: "I am very pleased to lead the Diavik Diamond Mines, and I look forward to working with the team and our business partners to be of great benefit to all of our stakeholders." He will move to Yellowknife and will begin work in the new location at the end of July 2017.
