the license for production of diamond
Zimbabwe intends to establish a direct link India to trade in diamonds without the participation of a third party, according to news reports.
Minister of Mines of Zimbabwe Chidakva Walter (Walter Chidhakwa) in an interview with Zee News said that India and Zimbabwe want to organize direct diamond trade.
"Direct trade would help to create a seamless supply chain that will drive the industry in both countries," - he said in his speech at the Diamond Conference in India.
"We have a message for Indian companies that lull now (in diamond exports from Zimbabwe), but very soon we will return to the market, and once again we will be able to sell diamonds," - he said.
Chidakva also noted that Zimbabwe will require skilled personnel to increase diamond production, and therefore the country will be in need of support from India.
"In the near future, I intend to meet with the Indian Minister of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy (Rajiv Pratap Rudy) and discuss how India can contribute to the development of skills in the diamond sector and creating jobs in Zimbabwe" - continues Chidakva .
At the same time, the Zimbabwean Minister met with his Indian counterpart, Piyush Goyal (Piyush Goyal), who assured him of the full support.
Last year, the Zimbabwe government refused to renew the license for production of diamond companies that have worked in Chiadzwa (Chiadzwa).
Consolidated diamond mining company Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) in 2016 was able to produce about 900,000 carats of diamonds against a peak performance of 12 million carats per year.
