Signet Jewelers company plans to open a testing laboratory for synthetic diamond detectors to ensure they meet the raw material traceability programs.
In working with United Laboratories (UL) company for the past nine months, Signet's, involved in testing products to create synthetic diamond detectors checking devices available on the market.
Meanwhile, Signet's aims to accelerate the tracking program jewelry, which she expanded earlier this year to cover the supply of rough diamonds. The company requires all its suppliers to ensure the supply of exclusively natural diamonds.
As a starting point in the US Signet will use devices from the three recognized producers: Institute for International Studies and the classification of diamonds (International Institute of Diamond Grading and Research , IIDGR), a subsidiary of De Beers; Gemological Institute of America (GIA); and laboratory HRD Antwerp.
However, over time and Signet UL plan to create a procedure for testing the detectors synthetics from around the world, including the US, Europe, India, China and Russia.
