the world's largest producer of rough diamonds

The Russian diamond miner ALROSA is interested in buying Canadian Dominion Diamond Corp, said on Tuesday the CEO of ALROSA Sergey Ivanov.
Dominion Diamond Corp, which has become the aim of the uninvited offer to purchase for $ 1.1 billion from the American billionaire Dennis Washington (Dennis Washington), said on Monday that it would begin a formal process to sell the company.
"At this stage we are not interested", - Ivanov said, responding to a Reuter questions via e-mail.
Stocks Dominion Diamond on Monday rose against speculation in the market that the global mining companies, including Rio Tinto and De Beers, included in Anglo American, are now able to join in this struggle and make an offer for the purchase of this company, which is the third largest producer the world's diamonds by value.
Analysts also suggested that ALROSA, the world's largest producer of rough diamonds, as well as players in the market of private capital may be interested in Dominion, which owns Ekati diamond mine (Ekati) in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
Sergei Ivanov, the newly appointed CEO of ALROSA, has already said that he would remain committed to the strategy of ALROSA, which is focused on the extraction, sale of non-core assets and the expansion of its own production.
