Leading Diamantaires Surat formed a committee of 30 members to create a world class Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) worth Rs 20 billion.
According to the newspaper of the Times of India, members of the committee plan to meet with Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) after taking the oath in as prime minister in New Delhi in order to insist on the establishment of an international airport in Surat and discuss other issues such as lifting restrictions on the importation of shipments of rough diamonds.
The committee for the establishment of the exchange in Surat, in particular, included Govind Dholakia, head of SRK Export; SP Shah (SP Shah), head of Venus Jewels; Lalji Patel (Lalji Patel), Head of Dharmanandan Diamonds; Savji Dholakiya, head of Harihrishna Exports; Chandrakant Sanghavi, head of Sanghavi Exports; Kishore Virani, head of KARP Impex; Vasant Gajera, head of Laxmi Diamonds; Dilip Mehta, head of Star Rays, and other representatives of the Indian diamond industry.
Dinesh Navadia, president of the Surat Diamond Association, who is also a member of the committee, reportedly told the Times of India newspaper that "the impressive victory of the National Democratic Alliance led by Narendra Modi gives diamantaires a lot of hope. A rapid movement towards the creation of a diamond exchange in Surat began.
