It turned out that the new owner in the course of this competition "ran" at a rate of almost 277 thousand dollars per second and came first with a result of 83.02 million dollars. This is a world record when buying diamonds.
After David Bennet, the auction host Sotheby's, dropped the hammer, in the hall sounded music from the series "Pink Panther" - the film, first released in 1964 and dedicated to finding a stolen pink diamond.
The "pink dream" of Isaac Woolf is the largest stone in its category that has ever been evaluated by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). It is oval in shape, 2.69 x 2.06 cm and weighs 11.92 grams. In addition to the fact that this stone differs by its rare characteristics in color and purity, it also falls into the subgroup of crystals of extreme transparency, which includes only less than two percent of all diamonds. The diamond, from which the "Pink Dream" appeared, was produced by De Beers in Africa in 1999. Its cut was made by the company Steinmetz Diamonds, spending more than two years.
