Gemfields said that after the auction of raw emeralds held in Indian Jaipur from April 28 to May 2, revenues of $ 13.5 million were received.
764,000 carats of raw emeralds were put up for sale and 268,000 carats sold.
The average cost of raw materials sold was $ 50 per carat.
According to the company, among the stones sold were emeralds of high quality, mined in Zambia and Brazil and Gemfields obtained from various sources on the open market.
"We are pleased with the revenue received at the auction of $ 13.5 million, which was the result of an increase in the number of bidders, as well as an increase in the number of exhibited and sold lots," said Ian Harebottle, the company's CEO. "Due to the high demand for high-quality emeralds and favorable market conditions, we have received solid revenue, and it is particularly gratifying to see the success and significant contribution of Brazilian emeralds to the revenues received."
