The All India Gems & Jewelery Federation (GJF) has opposed the initiative of the national standardization body - the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to issue special certificates for each piece of jewelry sold by retailers in large cities.
In a letter addressed to Mr. KV Thomas, Honorary Minister for Consumer Affairs, GJF Chairman Haresh Soni described the proposed BIS label as a burdensome, impractical and expensive procedure that required time. He asked in the future to involve the participants of the jewelry industry in the development of policies and various norms. According to Sony, the introduction of this procedure will force jewelers to avoid marking, which will lead to the spread of violations.
GJF has developed a unique Trust Mark Model, designed to help members of the gem and jewelery industry build their production and increase its efficiency.
The Trustmark program is developed by ISOQAR specifically for GJF and is an exclusive model for business development through the introduction of systems, processes and practices aimed at production growth and risk management.
