Gem Diamonds said that a rare blue diamond weighing 12.47 carats and a 82-carat white diamond of exceptional quality, mined at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, were sold at a very high price at a recent tender.
The company's message, received by Rough & Polished via e-mail, says that a blue diamond weighing 12.47 carats went under the hammer at a record high price of $ 7.5 million, equivalent to $ 603,047 per carat. A white diamond weighing 82 carats was sold for $ 4.8 million, or $ 59,173 per carat.
